Review: Zilzies Volcano is a hot sauce that does a pretty good job of having that balance between heat and flavour. The sauce falls a little more into the barbecue hot sauce realm as opposed to the pure hot chilli sauce field and has a nice combination of ingredients. The addition of pears and apples a nice addition to bring some natural sweet flavours to the sauce. The heat from the chillies takes over though as expected and this is where some of the flavours get a little lost amongst all the varieties of hot chillies. It’s still a very nice barbecue hot sauce. On my heat it’s a 8 out of 10.
Verdict: Zilzies The Volcano Hot Chilli Sauce is a hot sauce that has some nice flavour combinations and does a pretty good job of trying to balance the heat with the sweet. It’s quite spicy and I don’t mind the balance of the sauce being swayed more to the heat. This is another sauce that should sit on the table next to your favourite barbecued meats. My final score is a 7 out of 10.
