Ingredients: beef, brown vinegar, flavouring, salt, spices, herbs and spice extracts, MSG, corn syrup solids, dehydrated vegetables (onion, garlic-irradiated), cereal (wheat gluten), acidity regulator, vegetable oil (canola), chilli powder, kwikurit (salt, preservative (250)).
Review: All the way from the Wide Bay Region comes a great tasting jerky from Kilkivan Meats. Achieving 2nd place in the 2017 Mr Chilli Awards is Awesome Beef Jerky: Nitro XXX. These little chilli bites come in a small ‘bite’ size pieces, but don’t let their small form detract you! They begin to pack a wallop after a while, especially if one sneezes whilst chewing and some gets stuck in places it really shouldn’t go. Jokes aside, these pieces of jerky are very tasty and are easy to keep eating if your mouth can take a bit of a hiding.
This reviewer found that these bites were a great accompaniment to a golden ale. The heat that these jerky pieces compound with each piece, so be careful how much of your preferred beverage you consume; eat (and drink) responsibly!
I really enjoyed this jerky, but the presence of MSG disappointed me somewhat. There are many jerkies out there where the natural flavour of the meat, spices and marinades speak for themselves. I like to know what this jerky is like without any flavour enhancers. That is my only ‘beef’.
This is a good jerky and I would rate it 7/10 for flavour and 8/10 for heat.
