Review: If you have read any of my other reviews, you may have seen that I gave Bullseye Feral Meats’ Bucking Hot Chilli X a glowing review. This iteration from Bullseye Feral Meats is no exception. This company really knows how to maintain consistency in their products. Justifiably, this particular Jerky took out 1st place in the Extra Hot category at the 2017 Mr Chilli Awards and rightly so. They have been consistently excellent thus far.
Just look at the slab of dried meat on the plate! This allows the consumer to tear, rip or cut a piece to their liking. What a great idea! Sometimes, the pieces (from other suppliers) can be a little small, which is great for a ‘bite’, but at other times, we may like to get in touch with the carnivore deep within and enjoy a large slab of dried flesh! Bullseye product cater to this desire.
I have learnt my lesson tasting products named ‘Dragon’s Breath’ and I chose to tread cautiously with this jerky. Thankfully I listened to my brain and not my ego because the small 2x1cm strip I cut off was ample. Again, I loved the texture of this jerky but the heat in this jerky was at a totally different level. I wasn’t trying to be a hero, where I had to sit and ‘take it’, pretending that I’m okay, but really I’m writhing in pain. This stuff needs to be respected. It is a somewhat difficult task because it is so damn tasty!
I really enjoyed this product, but it will take a fair bit of time before the packet is empty! Easy does it…
For flavour, I rate this jerky 8/10. Heat-wise, I’d give it a 9/10 (even when erring on the edge of caution).
