Review: This sauce continues the praise that was delivered in the review of Kieltys Hand Smoked Chipotle BBQ Sauce. I have only had the pleasure of tasting two of Kieltys’ products and they are both spectacular. This sweet chilli sauce is gloriously sweet, almost decadent enough to be used in a dessert. I’d like to say that it’s almost a syrup!

There is something special indeed about this sauce and I believe it is the very welcome addition of fennel and coriander. Coriander for some, is considered a dirty word, but in this sauce it allows it to sit head and shoulder above ‘other’ sweet chilli sauces, offering a fresh and clean flavour.

What is amazing about this Kielty recipe is that the sweetness is not sickly sweet. It is balanced and not overwhelming. This sauce was enjoyed with steak, chicken, pork chops, chips, potato gems and even a lamb kebab. It just ‘worked’ with everything and the flavour rang through.

As with all sauces, flavour should be the primary reason for its creation. It needs to be a chameleon; able to blend in with many dishes and not disturb the flavour of the dish. This sauce certainly doesn’t disrupt a dish, it enhances it! In fact, this sauce is so delicious, I would be surprised if you got it, poured some into a bowl and dipped your fingers into it! Its great! I would like to pour some Kieltys Sweet Chilly Sauce and pour it over a tub of Philly Cream Cheese, but alas, I longer have enough…

For flavour, I will give this sauce a 9/10 and for heat, I give it a 3-4 out of 10 for heat. The heat of the chilli is certainly present but that is it, it doesn’t get to a point where you think you’re in trouble. It is just a delicious sauce. I hope this sauce is submitted in the up and coming Mr Chilli Awards too. Well done Kielty’s…again.
