Ingredients: Beef, Garlic, Hickory Sauce, Tomato Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, Soy Sauce, Salt, Black Pepper, Cayenne Pepper, Brown Sugar, Red Wine and Chilli Pulp
Review: Upon initial chewing the first flavour to hit my palate is the hickory before the garlic, cayenne and chilli flavours take over. Whilst the other flavours are also there it’s a very balanced taste, like a barbecue sauce flavour with heat. Some nice smokey undertones just add to the overall flavour experience.
The heat intensifies the longer you chew but it’s not unbearable heat(unless your into that kind of pain).
On my personal heat scale it sits at 3.5 out of 5.
The beef is portioned perfectly in my opinion. Tough at first but breaking apart easily thru progressive chewing. Lean muscle, no visible signs of fat. It’s been smoked and seasoned quite well. A really well made Australian beef jerky.
Verdict: Gus’s Jerky Award Winning Smoked Chilli Jerky delivers good heat and a nice balance of sweet and salty flavours. A satisfying chewing experience and very moreish…I found it quite hard to put the packet down once I started eating. The meat is consistent in texture, size and spicing with no fat. It can be initially tough to chew but breaks down. My final score is 4 out of 5
