Review: Andrew from Shashemane Exotic Spice Blends knows his stuff. A chef by trade, he understands flavour, aroma, balance and obviously blends. This knowledge has been showcased in his product, ‘Shashemane Crush’ and is well deserved of taking out the top position in the ‘Chilli Seasoning’ category at the 2018 Mr Chilli awards. The aroma that permeates one’s nasal cavity is divine. What I appreciate in particular is how Andrew has combined a lot of different aromatic spices to create his blend and the result is simple fabulous. If you truly know the characteristics of different spices and your palate is seasoned, each spices can be identified, without taking precedence over another. I savoured the aromatic flavours of the cardamom and cumin as they are rather bold, but they were balanced by the nutmeg, which is always a winning spice.

This seasoning could be used as a rub or simply to season a meal and is a fantastic substitute to a salt with a bit of paprika added to it.

This stuff is great. Well done to the team at Shashemane.
