Shatkora Lamb

800g Lamb , diced
200g Onions, chopped
100g Tomatoes, chopped
2tsp Garlic and Ginger paste
1/2 tsp Garam Masala
1/2 tsp Chilli powder
11/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Cumin Powder
1 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
1 tbls lemon juice
2 Bay leaves
4  Green Cardamom pods
1 Cinnamon quill
4 Cloves
20 ml  Oil
Salt to taste
Coriander, chopped for garnish


  1. Cook the Onions in the Oil until golden brown.
  2. Add the Garlic and Ginger paste and cook for 2 mins.
  3. Add the Bay leaves, Cardomom, Cinnamon and Cloves, and stir for 1 min.
  4. Add Garam masala, Turmeric, Cumin and Coriander powder and cook, adding a little water to stop the spices from burning.
  5. Add the Lamb and cook for 20 mins over medium heat.
  6. Add the Tomatoes and Lemon juice and Salt to taste and cook for 2 mins, adding a little water for sauce.
  7. Simmer for 10 mins until the Lamb is cooked and tender.
  8. Remove from heat and chopped fresh Coriander and serve with Rice or Roti.
