Cuban-Style Picadillo

1 tbls Olive oil
1 clove Garlic, crushed
100gm Onion, chopped
1/2 green Capsicum, chopped
500gm lean minced Beef
6 large pitted green Olives, quartered
1/2 cup Raisins
1 tbls capers
440 ml Tomato passatta
1 tbls gnd Cumin
1 tsp white Sugar
Pinch salt to taste


  1. Heat Olive oil in a pan over medium heat; cook and stir Garlic, Onion, and green Capsicum in the hot oil until softened, 5 to 7 mins.
  2. Crumble mince into the pan, cook and stir until browned completely, 7 to 10 mins.
  3. Stir Olives, Raisins, Capers, Tomato passatta, Cumin, Sugar, and Salt through the mince beef mixture.
  4. Cover the pan, reduce heat to low, and cook until the mixture is heated through, 5 to 10 minutes.
