Sublime Spices Tomato Blush

Review by Michael Elias

Product: Sublime Spices Tomato Blush

Location of Manufacture: Forrestfield WA, Australia

Ingredients: Onion, tomato, vinegar, chilli, spices, sugar, oil, salt

Review: Tomato Blush is a condiment that can be best described as crushed chilli’s in oil, at least this is how it appears when I first open the jar. It resembles the Asian style of making chilli’s in oil. It has a really nice aroma and upon first tasting I’m hit with the sweetness of the fried onions which add a great flavour to this. The chilli brings the heat with the initial tasting being hot and then lingering well after, however in a warming way. It’s the type of chilli oil that can very easily be eaten in one sitting, it’s quite moorish in the sense that you find yourself having 10-12 teaspoon serves of it when you only intended to have 1. The ingredients are fresh, the flavour balance is much like the name on the jar sublime. It’s not heavy on the ingredient list but simplicity is the key here to making a great product where the core ingredients are allowed to shine, and believe me they shine like the morning sun breaking through the clouds. On my heat scale it’s a 7 out of 10.

Verdict: Sublime Spices Tomato Blush is a hot chilli condiment which delivers perfectly on the flavours. It’s a smooth relish style that takes cues from the Asian style of making crushed chilli’s in oil and is quite impressive. This is an excellent example of a condiment that can work in so many different applications, it will literally work on anything you feel like adding some heat to. I really couldn’t find any fault with this and the ingredients have been treated with great respect. It is like they are honoured to have made the sacrifice to be in this jar of excellence. My final score is a Perfect 10 out of 10.
