Please remember that it’s not just about the heat, the Flavours are very important. “Heat with Flavour” – a match made in Heaven.

Here’s what we look for in a winner:

Appearance

Is the general appearance appealing? Does it work well with the flavour?

Aroma

Is the aroma appealing? Does it work well with the flavour?

Texture

Is the smoothness or chunkiness appealing? Does it work well with the product and its purpose?

Spice Blend

Do the spices enhance the overall flavour? Does the heat level, if any, augment the overall palatability?

Originality

Is this a unique product? Interesting preparation?

Flavour

Is the flavour level appropriate? Are the ingredients balanced? Do the
flavours balance well (sweet, sour, bitter, salt, freshness, crispness, and
seasoning)? Is the overall flavour appealing?

Winners will be announced on www.mrchilli.com.au and on www.facebook.com/HotChilliAwards – the most popular Chilli community page on the Internet, and each listing will include a link to the winner’s website.

Rules:

  1. Your product must have chilli in it. The heat must be from a chilli, not extracts.
  2. You may enter each of your items in one category only. The same item cannot be entered into 2 different categories ($50 per entry).
  3. We reserve the right to re categorize your entry.
  4. If product appears unsafe for consumption, it will be discarded and no refund will be given.
  5. You must inform us if your product needs refrigeration.
  6. All entries must be labeled correctly with an ingredients list and an expiry date required.
  7. Entrants or their employees cannot be judges in a category they have entered to maintain an unbiased result
  8. All entries will be blind tasted; this will ensure equity in judging.
  9. You must let us know what categories you want your sauce and salt in.
  10. All salts must come in a grinder.
  11. Only Australian and New Zealand residents can enter their products in this contest – The “Mr. Chilli” Awards 2017.
